Welcome the New Year in the State of Virginia 2013

Virginia, named for Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen, is a state of the USA located on Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.  History has combined with geography to make the Commonwealth of Virginia a leading tourist centre. The Blue Ridge Parkway with its remarkable flora, located in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia and neighboring North Carolina, is the most visited of America's national parks. The Shenandoah National Park also covers part of the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Piedmont region and is particularly famous for its numerous waterfalls and the variety of animal species living here. Virginia is the leader in the Southeast in terms of offering New Year's Eve 2013 celebrations.

First Night Alexandria is the largest, family-focused New Year's Eve celebration in Northern Virginia, with more than 100 performances on indoor stages throughout Old Town Alexandria, including blue grass musicians, honky-tonk bands, clowns, magicians, classical musicians and more, plus a spectacular multimedia finale with lasers, music and video at the George Washington Masonic Memorial. First Night Virginia draws close to 10,000 people to the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville. It features family-friendly fun with music, dancing, comedy, juggling, a Kid Fest, fireworks and more. Downtown Harrisonburg's First Night celebration features lively musical, dance and dramatic performances presented in various downtown buildings including churches, commercial spaces, building lobbies and stores. An exciting Grand Procession takes place in the evening and a Fireworks Finale on Court Square welcomes the New Year at midnight.
