Tennessee's capital, Nashville, is centrally located on the banks of the Cumberland River and is regarded as the capital of country music. The center of this most American of all music genres is around Music Square, which is located in downtown Nashville. Besides studios, museums and bars with live music, the city is also home to the Country Music Hall of Fame. In addition to the aforementioned attractions, there are several spectacular buildings in the city, including the State Capitol, the Parthenon - a replica of the Athenian original and more buildings built in the magnificent colonial style of the southern states such as the Belmont Mansion or the mansion of the Belle Meade Plantation. On the northeast outskirts lies the Opryland amusement park which also attracts lots of tourists. Ring in the New Year 2013 and rock out the old one in Nashville with lots of music.
Popularly known as “Music City USA” around the world, Nashville lives up to its billing when it comes to New Year’s Eve celebrations. Many musicians perform annually at Nashville’s New Year’s Eve parties. At the Hard Rock Café’s annual New Year’s Eve party a 10-foot illuminated guitar is dropped at midnight and the celebration culminate with fireworks. In Lower Broadway, Bluebird Cafe, Nashville Palace, etc. celebrations include music and fireworks.
