Welcome New Year 2013 in Fayetteville
The city of Fayetteville, located in south-central North Carolina, takes pride in being the home of the U.S. Army's Fort Bragg. As such, tourist attractions in the town are influenced by the presence of this major army installation. Tourists can learn the history of the division’s participation in various wars. At the 82nd Airborne Division War Memorial Museum military heroes come alive. For those more interested in brave soldiers check out the Airborne and Special Operations Museum. Other tourist attractions and festivals include the Cape Fear Botanical Garden and the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival. If your idea of ringing in the New Year 2013 is a bit more exciting than, say, spending it watching the ball drop on Times Square, then Fayetteville is the place to be.
Fayetteville’s premier New Year’s Eve celebration is held at Festival Park in downtown Fayetteville. Party in the Park is a free New Year’s celebration for the whole family. It includes a children’s area featuring a craft station and, most importantly, an early countdown that starts at 8:30 p.m. (complete with fireworks!) for those little kids who cannot make it till midnight. Party favors, food, beer and champagne will be available for purchase. At midnight there will be a live feed from Times Square and fireworks.
