Welcome the New Year in the State of Minnesota 2013

The state of Minnesota, also nicknamed the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” because of the over 12,000 lakes it has, is apart from Alaska the most northerly U.S. state. It is located in the Midwestern USA and has the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario as northerly neighbors. To the east, Minnesota is bounded by Lake Superior and the state of Wisconsin, to the south by the states of Iowa and South Dakota and to the west by North Dakota. The state capital is St. Paul, and the Twin Cities region Minneapolis–St. Paul is the transportation and economic hub. The ample availability of woodlands, fertile prairies, wilderness areas, parks, and innumerable lakes -the state’s name comes from a Dakota word for "sky-tinted water"- offer residents and tourists alike a great variety of outdoor recreational opportunities. From a romantic rendezvous on ice skates to rock music, the state of Minnesota has your 2013 New York Eve’s plans covered.

The Great Outdoors in Minnesota is a nature lover’s paradise.  If skating in circles tickles your fancy, lace up your blades, grab a date, and head to the Depot Rink. Take your pick—use skis, boards, or even an inflatable tube to slide down the slippery slopes until midnight at the New Year’s Eve bash in Buck Hill. If you get cold, escape to the main chalet for the KS95 party, then to the BuckStone lodge for glitter glam hair-dos and magicians. Head back out to watch the Zombie Boardshop Big Air Competition. The night ends with a bang with a huge fireworks display. So, if you are deciding on your plans for the New Year 2013, do not forget to consider Minnesota.
