Northern Cape, the perfect place for your New Year’s Eve 2013

The Northern Cape is the largest and most sparsely populated province of South Africa. It was created in 1994 when the Cape Province was split up. Its capital is Kimberley, "The Diamond Capital of the World" and it is also the largest and most modern city of the Northern Cape, with much to see and enjoy, especially from a historical point of view. Kimberley is also the gateway through which most travelers enter the province, so the streets are always bustling with people from far and near. Other spectacular sites in the Northern Cape include the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park, the Augrabies Falls and the diamond mining regions in Kimberley and Alexander Bay. Vast expanses of space and silence, drought and blazing summer sunshine as well as exiting towns and villages will greet you if you spend your New Year’s Eve 2013 in the Northern Cape.

Besides Kimberley, other towns like De Aar and Colesberg will all be geared up to party into the New Year. The Orange River flows through the western region of the North Cape and provides a lush contrast to the ruggedness of the Richtersveld, a big mountain which nestles between the river and the ocean. Along the coastline, small fishing villages have been established to harvest the shoals of fish in the cold Benguela Current sweeping north from the Antarctica. Why not spend your New Year in one of the little fishing towns gazing out into the ocean, while tasting the native food and drink. The Northern Cape has all this natural beauty to offer plus little towns and cities that will joyfully be celebrating the incoming New Year of 2013.
